Welcome to San Damiano College. It is with great pride that I welcome you to our College community. It is a community that we are proud of. I have had the privilege of serving as the Foundation Principal of San Damiano College since 2020, and it has been an honour to work alongside staff, students and families to establish a school that truly reflects the values and aspirations of our community.
My educational journey has taken me throughout far North Queensland, where I worked extensively in Indigenous education. This experience profoundly shaped my belief in the power of education to bring communities together and highlighted the importance of strong relationships in enhancing student learning and wellbeing. It reinforced for me that when schools, families and communities work in partnership, young people thrive.
I was later seconded to BoysTown, Beaudesert, where I worked as a behaviour specialist with disadvantaged and at‑risk young people. This experience had a lasting impact on my understanding of how education can transform the lives of teenagers, particularly when schools provide care, structure, compassion and high expectations. It strengthened my commitment to creating learning environments where every student is known, valued and supported.
Following this, I spent close to twenty years at Carmel College, holding the leadership roles of Assistant Principal – Students, Deputy Principal, and Acting Principal. During this time, I witnessed firsthand how a strong Catholic identity and Gospel values can enrich learning, shape character and support both staff and students to reach their full potential.
I hold a Bachelor of Education, along with Master's Degrees in Education, Educational Leadership and Religious Education. These studies, together with my professional experience, have informed my vision for San Damiano College.
That vision is simple and purposeful: a school that caters for all students and their families. Our core College values of Community, Respect, Resilience and Service to Others are embedded in the way San Damiano College has been established and are visible in every aspect of College life. These values guide our learning, relationships and decision making, and they are lived each day by our students and staff.
San Damiano College is a Brisbane Catholic Education school, proudly inclusive and welcoming of all. We offer a wide range of both traditional and innovative subjects, delivered within a small, caring environment by understanding, dedicated and nurturing staff. Our strong focus on the fundamentals of literacy and numeracy, taught in a modern and relevant context, ensures students are well prepared for future pathways.
Our senior students in Year 11 and 12 study a personalised senior education plan that can include school-based traineeships and apprenticeships, university courses, work experience, Diplomas of Business, Certificates in Engineering, Droning, Electrotechnology, Health Services, Business, Fitness and Hospitality as well as the more traditional senior subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Legal Studies, Modern History etc.
In such a small period of time the College has formed many valuable partnerships, including with the University of Queensland, Griffith University, TAFE Qld and UNIQ You, further enriching the opportunities available to our students.
The many co-curricular activities on offer, such as music, debating, and sport, assist our students to extend themselves and focus on areas that they are passionate about.
San Damiano College is truly a small school achieving big things, a school our community can be proud of.
If this sounds like the right school for your child and family, I warmly invite you to join one of our Principal Tours, held on the last Wednesday of each month. I look forward to welcoming you personally and sharing the San Damiano College story with you.
